The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration has proposed to expand and make permanent its popular Crash Preventability Determination Pilot Program. The program allows motor carriers to submit a request for review through the DataQs system to have a crash deemed not preventable and noted as such on their CSA profile.  FMCSA is proposing to expand the program to include additional crash scenarios and have not preventable crashes removed from the carrier’s Crash History BASIC score calculation. The crash would also be noted as not preventable on the driver’s Pre-employment Screening Program profile. The anticipated effective date of the expanded program is October 1, 2019 at which time carriers will be able to submit a request for review for crashes occurring on or after August 1, 2019.
