When FMCSA’s Compliance, Safety, Accountability (CSA) program initially launched in 2010, it was called CSA-2010. At that time, FMCSA’s four CSA objectives were to:

  1. Increase contact with industry through increased efficiencies
  2. Maximize FMCSA and State partner resources
  3. Assess the safety fitness of a greater segment of the industry
  4. Bring about a greater reduction in large truck and bus crashes

As a new decade begins, STC reflected upon the past 10 years of CSA and wondered whether FMCSA has met the objectives set when they created the program. In particular, we wondered whether CSA helped drive a greater reduction in crashes.
