Safety and Security Transportation Consultant Will Prepare Companies for Active Shooter Scenarios

WASHINGTON, D.C. (February 9, 2018) – Scopelitis Transportation Consulting, LLC (STC) announces the expansion of its services to include Workplace Violence Prevention and Active Shooter Mitigation Training. STC President and CEO David Osiecki is teaming up with Senior Safety and Security Consultant David Medeiros to launch these services.

STC is a specialized business consulting venture launched by Scopelitis, Garvin, Light, Hanson & Feary Law Firm in the fall of 2016.

“Workplace violence costs American businesses up to $36 billion annually. With more than 5,000 incidents each day, all companies – especially trucking companies, where several recent, high-profile active shooter events have occurred – should be prepared to save as many lives as possible,” said Scopelitis Law Firm President and Managing Partner Greg Feary. “STC’s new services are designed to help companies committed to taking a strategic approach to protecting their employees.”

In its beginning, STC focused on providing consulting services to transportation industry companies in the areas of electronic logging devices, independent contractor issues, and regulatory compliance. With the addition of Medeiros, STC’s Workplace Violence Prevention and Active Shooter Mitigation Training programs will include consulting new and existing clients on personnel and facility security, workplace violence prevention training, best practices, and advice.

“The transportation industry is not immune to the societal problems that have led to workplace violence incidents,” said STC President and CEO David Osiecki. “We’re excited to partner with David Medeiros to provide clients with timely training and strategic advice on how to prevent workplace violence incidents, and mitigate active shooter incidents before they become tragedies.”

Medeiros is a graduate of the United States Army War College and National Preparedness Leadership Initiative training at Harvard University. A 22-year veteran lieutenant of Rhode Island State Police, Medeiros uses his substantial experience in safety and regularly compliance to build one-of-a-kind training programs. These programs are specifically designed to increase the survivability of workers in an active shooter event by providing a model response framework to practice and recall under stress.

“The team at Scopelitis is known for their agile approach in building services that fit the ever-changing needs of the industry,” said Medeiros. “Scopelitis’ thought leadership, combined with my experience in providing companies with security and workplace violence prevention training, will help to protect the hard-working employees that make up America’s thriving transportation industry.”
